Tip: Common documents

Common documents
Notaries are not required to understand the content of the documents they are notarizing. However, a notary should not notarize a document that is known to them to be fraudulent. Many common documents presented to notaries include: affidavits, deeds of trust, grant deeds, quit claim deeds, signature affidavits, powers of attorney, affidavits of citizenship, affidavits of support, and permission for a minor to travel overseas with an adult other than their parent.
