Tip: Signing name variations

Signing name variations
The borrowers must sign their name(s) as it is typed in the signature section of the documents. If the borrowers refuse to do so, then documents could be redrawn. However, if the name on title is a particular name variation, then the borrowers would have to change the name on title first before the documents could be redrawn which is time consuming and complicated. Its easier just to sign the way the name is written on the documents. The lender is the ideal person to instruct the borrower and notary what to do if they want to change the way a name is signed. However, the lender is not always available. If you insist on signing a different way from what is typed, have the borrower(s) initial under the last several letters of the last name and DON'T cross any names out. Let the processor handle that. Another way to deal with this is to sign your other name variations on the signature affidavit and sign how you like on the loan documents. This is not advised without the consent of the lender. In the worst case scenario, docs could be reprinted, and a new signing could be scheduled.
