Tip: Jurisdiction

Jurisdiction
Your jurisdiction as an appointed notary is your entire state. If someone calls from the other side of the state line, you can have them meet you on your side of the border. If you are a dual commissioned notary, then you can practice in two states. Use the corresponding commission for whatever state you are in. Exception: Louisiana has some notaries who may only notarize within a specific parish, while others are statewide. There are different rules for military base notaries, but these rules don't apply to regular notaries.
