Expensive lesson, but am sure you have now learned that the 2nd copy is intended to be the B's copy and both Bs should sign the other copy which is finally returned to Title. This is called a 'split signing'.

In your defense, if they felt they needed to call you to tell you this, they could have included it in the written instructions. However, most companies do not as they expect you to know this.

If you don't value your time and experience, nobody else will.

Hi everyone I would like your feedback on this one. I had a signing here in Illinois. The husband was here on business and the wife and refinanced home was in Calif. I received 2 sets of docs via UPS with 2 shipping labels. One label had the address where I was to meet the husband here and the return address to the title co. The other label had the wife's name on it and the home address in Calif with the return address to the title co. Being industrious I mailed the 2nd set of docs to the wife in Calif. I conducted the signing here and forwarded the docs to the title co(Home Title of America-NC.)

I received a angry call from LPC of Ky stating that I had screwed up and that they had intended for me to forward my signed docs to the wife in Calif for her signature and notarization on the same docs. LPC stated that I would not be paid because Home Title did not pay them and that the docs had to be done over again with both husband wife signatures on the same set of docs. I have had signings before and do not recall ever having to send my signed docs to the 2nd party for signature. I guess I will lick my wounds on this one. Sure enough when I checked my voice mail the next day LPC had left a voice mail indicating that that is what they wanted. I did not get anything in writing on my confirmation stating that is what they wanted
