From underwear to hostages--what a day. My first signing of the day was a young couple with three little girls vacationing in New Hampshire. We went to their summer condo to do the signing. Upstairs I could hear the faint giggles of the girls. When the signing was almost over, Mom asked the girls to get their bathing suits on and bring underwear. They got suited up to swim when one of them asks mom what to do with the underwear. She requested that she bring them downstairs. Next thing you see is underwear on the head of mom. Her little one threw them down from the rafters.

Later that day, we were traveling to our fourth signing. We followed the major route system to get to the borrowers cottage which should only have taken fifteen minutes when we were detoured. In front of us was a few police cars and an ambulance. Thinking there was a terrible accident ahead, we followed the detour route to the borrowers which took us close to an hour. New Hampshire back roads can be long and winding. While I am doing the signing, the neighbor (who is obviously drunk) runs over telling us there is a bank robbery going on down the road. He sees my husband sitting in the car and asks the borrower if they "should go talk to him" thinking he is a bad guy. It turns out that the problem was not a bank robbery but was indeed a hostage situation which did not end for several hours after we completed the signing.

Did I say, what a day?

I was just answering your question. Nothing I said was meant to be critical. As a matter of fact, I actually think most of your posts are pretty good.

Oh, and by the way, my life is just fine and work is plentiful.

There is a LOT that's been deleted from this thread - I believe Stickler's comment was addressed to someone else, not you Deb.

I always have a couple of other notaries to refer. They also refer me. The clients really appreciated the help. I will not work for $50 either, nor will I refer someone for that rate. If we work for nothing that is what the expected rated will become. Show some pride in what you do and charge accordingly.

Not me. I would never refer a notary who only charges 50 dollars anyhow because as you said, "you can ask for a lot more you know." I do not have time for rude people either.
