Spouse did not know she was a "co-Borrower". Husband negleted to tell her. She only found out after I pointed out were she needed to sign. The rest of the time was "tense" She signed but I am sure after I left "words" were had. That is why I always try to sit close to the door. |

Husband and wife at signing. Husband keeps excusing himself to deal with dogs, doorbells, and so on. While he is gone, wife rubs her leg up mine and winks and flirts. While it would have made a good fictional romance novel, I preferred to remain non-fictionally happily married and (while flattered) chose to ignore, complete the signing and get out of there. Question: If I had chosen the fictional route, would my fee have been considered prostitution?!? |

Docs to borrower - I walk in, shake hands with husband - introduced myself to wife - wife looks at me, at docs on table, at husband and says "why didn't you tell me we were doing this?" - his response? "The papers have been sitting here for 2 days - I thought you saw them!"...
She was a NOBS, so we signed and she'd come in, sign her doc and go back to the living room/family room til we called her ...
AWKWARD!!! :)

The spouses were both signing but they were in the middle of an obviously nasty divorce. The wife kept walking out of the signing and arguing with the husband. The signing took way longer than expected but it was completed.

Borrower was told it was OK to provide personal check, but name to put in payee field not provided. When borrower calls to find out who the payee should be, he is told he needs a certified check.

What are some nasty surprises that happen during signings that effect the signing?
I will name a few, but you can contribute a few more please! (1) Signers name variation is unacceptable to the signer (2) Rate or APR is wrong (3) Fee or payoff information was not what the borrower thought (4) A spouse or relative needs to sign two documents, but they are not home or accessible. (5) The signer's identification doesn't match the printed name on the documents (6) There are two names on the Acknowledgment section, but only one signer signing on that particular date (7) Husband and wife are in different counties at the time of the signing. (8) The dog pees on your leg (Yes, this actually happened to a lady recently)
