The minimum age to become a Nebraska notary public is 19 where other states generally require you to be 18. Also, there is no minimum residency requirement to become a Nebraska notary public.

The Nebraska Secretary of State's website is a good source for notary information. One of the pages gave a visual of what a notary journal entry should include. There were some fields left out of the data such as the document name, as well as the notary fee. There was no room for the thumbprint of the signer which is highly encouraged as taking thumbprints discourages identity fraud. Additionally, there was no room for additional notes which is important. If you are notarizing a document written in a foreign language, or have signers who are behaving strangely, you should record this in the additional notes part of your journal.

Notaries in Nebraska may notarize for aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, but not for those with ancestral relations to you or those who are descendents, sisters, brothers, or in-laws with similar relationships to you.

A Nebraska notary does not need to prove the capacity of a signer such as a corporate president, attorney-in-fact, etc. A position in a company, or professional status such as being an attorney or public official can be referred to as a capacity.
