Hello from San Juan Island
I have been reading the blogs and it seems to be a common problem. I have experienced a little different problem here in the Islands. Often the Closing agents are not familar with the area and want to book closings that are actually hundreds of miles away. My first step is to call the borrowers to confirm they actually are here on the Island where I live before I print any paperwork.

I would suggest adding the name of the Loan/mortgage company to the Invoices....this clearly lets the Closing service know we have the ability to contact them if we are not paid. Maybe the second reminder would include a note the unpaid invoice will be sent to the loan company....if payment is not received in 10 days.

Are there any other notaries that are on Islands? Would like to discuss your fee schedules etc.
